The Central Coast region is uniquely located midway between two major Australian cities making it an important gateway on the New South Wales east coast. It is positioned just over an hour north of Australia's financial capital, Sydney, with a population of more than four and a half million people and is less than an hour south of Newcastle, one of Australia's largest regional cities, with a population of approximately 644,000.
The Central Coast is easily accessible from major seaports on the east coast of Australia and is situated midway on the main Northern Railway and Sydney-Newcastle Freeway. Sydney and to a lesser degree Newcastle provide both domestic and international airports, which are frequented by major Australian and international airlines.
The two major Central Coast passenger coach services are Red Bus Services and Busways, with Coastal Liner providing links in the hinterland areas of Dooralong and Yarramalong. Train service providers CityRail and CountryLink connect the Central Coast to anywhere in Australia.
